Statement

“The Surreal is the reality that has not been separated from its mystery.”
Rene Magritte, 1961

Architecture, sunlight, textures and the sensuality of the human figure—these are the elements and themes I choose to explore in my paintings. Creating tableaux that suggest stories and mysteries, often with a degree of anticipatory tension, I like to encourage the viewer’s curiosity about what will happen next.

I am drawn to cultures, typical in Mediterranean societies, where antiquity plays an active role in the contemporary daily lives of its people. Heavily influenced by photography, often by images I have taken myself, my painting style uses classic techniques, skewed perspectives, and a love of color and shading to create works that are steeped in history and personal reflection.
